Happy World Card Making Day!!

Hello everyone!! I am popping in for a super QUICK post!! I will be posting more cards hopefully (with my fingers crossed!) tomorrow as I plan to spend the day in my craft room!!!

CAS-ual Fridays has a NEW Halloween stamp set-"Spooky," which I received in the mail yesterday, along with some glow in the dark Wow! embossing powder so I just HAD to make a card!!!

I had an idea when I saw this set to make a SUPER SIMPLE shaker card. I stamped the boo sentiment with Catherine Pooler "Midnight" ink on white cardstock. I then die cut the panel using the Pinked Slimline Fri-dies.

I then stamped the cob webs with Versamark ink and heat embossed with the WOW! "Glow in the Dark" powder.

I then made an envelope out of a clear notebook pocket and added some sequins to make a shaker card. I didn't have just black sequins so I had to pick each of them out individually from a color mix!! Talk about dedication to an idea!!! I adhered the shaker part to the front of a white, slimline card.

I used the Pinked Slimline Fri-dies once again to die cut a black frame, which I adhered around the shaker using foam adhesive. My last step was to adhere a few sequins on the outside of the shaker as well.

CAS-ual Fridays is having a HUGE CLEARANCE sale, as well as a free giveaway with a purchase of over $35.

You can use my code, NORASENTME, to get an extra 15% off your total order!!!

Also, don't forget to post on my Day 1 and Day 2 September Release Blog posts to be in the running to win the new Pinked Slimline Fri-dies and the new Everyday Dragonflies stamp set, with matching Fri-dies. The random drawing will be on Sunday, October 4!!!

I thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a FABULOUS day!!!

Guest Designer for "The 12 Kits of Occasions" Blog

I have been holding on to this for a few weeks and was so excited when Jeanne asked me to be a part of "The 12 Kits of Occasions" for September. I have been a long admirer of her creations and LOVE this kit blog.

When I received her box, it was like Christmas...or Halloween as the box was FULL of festive Halloween goodness. I wish I had taken a photo of the way Jeanne packaged it all up too. It was just like getting an unexpected present.

I only created six projects-five cards and a tag. I could have done TONS more and might play with it later on in the month but I have been super busy completing DT projects that I have very little time for myself these days.

I tried to stick to the kit but I have to say I was a bit of a failure at this.

For my first card, I mainly used the kit, just adding a silver thread, "Clear" Wink of Stella and some glossy accents over the spider.

I LOVE this fun sentiment block and thought it would look perfect over the red patterned paper and the glitter spider web die cut. The spider does get a little bit lost, though. (it is in the upper right hand corner!)

For my second card, I took one of the fun sentiments, some patterned paper and some of the cute images from the kit that I colored in with Copics.

I think this is my favorite of all my projects too. I added a bit of Stickles in "Dark Blue" on the witch hat band and die cut the sentiment out but everything else is directly from the kit.

For my third card, I blended Distress Ink in "Carved Pumpkin" and "Wild Violet" onto a white card base for the background. I then splattered  Heidi Swapp Colorshine in "Tinsel" and "Picket Fence" Distress Stain on top of the blended ink before I added the die cuts and sentiment.

My daughter had an opinion where I placed the ghosts on this. There were a TON of little ones in the kit and Charlotte thought these three looked the best on the house. It is hard to tell from the photo but I added some "Clear" Wink of Stella over the ghosts to give them a bit of shine.

With the Distress Ink background theme going, I decided to create one more for my fourth card.

I blended "Twisted Citron," "Shaded Lilac" and "Blueprint Sketch" on the front of this white card base. I then splattered water over the top and blotted it with a paper towel. I then added the fun die cuts, all from the kit. The sequins were literally lying on my craft mat. Even when I clean up, extra sequins seem to be everywhere!

For my last card, everything was from the kit with the exception of the card base, a white scrap of card stock and the "Vintage Photo" Distress Ink that I used around the edges of the paper.

I LOVE how this card came out too!! That sentiment is not actually part of that white background. I pieced it together and hid the seam with the pumpkins.

For my last project, I made a tag and used the bag that Jean sent some of her goodies in.

I knew that this was what I wanted to do with the ghost when it dropped out of the pile of stuff when I first looked through everything!!

Here is a close up with all the sequins inside. I tried to use sequins of every color polka dot on the bag.

That is all from me. Please visit The 12 Kits of Occasion Blog for the full list of everyone that took part in this months kit. I love to see how different people use the same products!! I thank you Jeanne Jachna for inviting me to be a part of this fun blog this month!!

Here is the list of members, starting with the two other guest designers.

I thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a FABULOUS FRIDAY!!

October SJ Card Kit Blog Post-"Claudia's Stash"

Okay, I am a day late and a dollar short for this post. I SHOULD have posted this on October 31st when the SJ Card Kit Club blog post went live but with Halloween and then me having book club the next day, I just never got around to it. Shame since I created SIX cards out of the kit that Claudia sent using things from her stash. Please go browse if you have time because many of the people made some terrific cards.

As you can see from the photo above, Claudia sent us stuff to create both fall cards and Halloween cards. I chose to make three of each, though I could have created many more. It was definitely out of my comfort zone because there were NO stamps to color and all die cuts to use. However, it forced me to look at things in a new way and I LOVED it.

For this card, I chose to cut up a bunch of pieces of the patterned papers into strips as my starting off point. The only element that DID NOT come from the kit on this card are the ink that I used to distress the card and the sequins.

I LOVE how this card came out. When I saw the little wagon wheel, I knew I wanted to do a grouping with a pumpkin. I added the sequins as a finishing touch.

This was the simplest card I created. I rarely do simple these days but I LOVE how it came out. I even already sent this card out too!!

My last three were Halloween cards. Claudia sent the cutest ghosts and I just had to use them. I apologize because I know Halloween is over but I wanted to post them anyway.

One of the things I noticed right off the bat is I only own ONE Halloween stamp set. Claudia did not send any sentiments so what is a girl to do? I created one using stickers!! I added yellow Stickles to the eyes and mouth of the ghost for a bit more oomph.

For this card, I used the ribbon, patterned paper and ghost that were in the kit. I die cut the polka paper into a banner and tied the ribbon around it. I then added a foam panel to make it POP off the card. The sentiment is from the only stamp set I own that is a Halloween set. Instead of yellow Stickles, I added some Diamond colored Stickles to the ghost eyes.

My last card is simple. I die cut the polka paper and the black and white block to house the ghost. I added some vellum behind the ghost to give the eyes and mouth a "smokey" look. The sentiment I stamped and embossed.

I thank you for stopping by and viewing all my creations. This "kit club" had been so fun for me and I LOVE all the fun things I created with it.

Have a fabulous day!!

Freshly Made Sketch #143

Happy Thursday everyone!! It is hot and muggy here. It was just the kind of day to stay in air conditioning to create something fun.

Today I am playing along with the Freshly Made Sketch Blog. I am kind of obsessed with sketch blogs as of late. I can use the products I want and I have a frame to work in. Here is the sketch I worked from:
I chose to make a Halloween card. I am not sure why. Perhaps because I like the fall weather best. I LOVE summer vacation but detest like hot, humid weather. I love the brisk feeling of fall, where a light jacket is needed.

The adorable kitten image is from Simon Says Stamp. It is one of those stamp sets that I bought because I saw an adorable card made from it but then I never used it. I do that all the time. I am actually trying to use what I already have this summer. So far I have been good but there is some fabulous new product that I really want.

First I die cut the white circle and then I stamped the image with black ink. I then used Copic markers to color him in. Then I went searching for just the right papers to layer him on.

I think my favorite part of this whole project was to dig through my pattern paper scraps to find just the right papers. I layered them over each other like the sketch, with the black banner being adhered with foam tape to give it a little dimension.

The enamel dots and Stickles on the cat and pumpkin were the finishing touches on the outside of the card.

While the Stickles dried, I created the inside. I often create an insert when I use black card base.

I die cut a white piece of card stock and then stamped the little kitty in black at the bottom. I wanted to leave room just in case I wanted to write a message.

I really enjoyed making this card and love the way it came out.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a Happy July 4th!!

Throw Back Thursday and a Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween!!

Is everyone ready for some Trick or Treating? I know my daughter is. She will be dressing up as a medical officer from the original Star Trek. Her father has her hooked!!

To commemorate Halloween AND it being Thursday, I thought I would create a card using a Halloween Stamp from my archives. This stamp was from Stampin Up! set "Costume Bears." It was retired years ago but I thought it was so cute that I kept it. I have so many sets of stamps that I barely use that I am going to try to dig them out and do a series of "throw back" Thursdays using my older stamp sets.

I first stamped the bear and then cut it out using the end of one of the PTI Half and Half Die. I then colored in the bear using various Copic Markers. I then layered patterned paper and card stock in yellow, black, and purple on the front of a card. Next I adhered the stamped image using foam adhesive. I die cut three stars and adhered two with foam tape and one with general adhesive in a random way across the card. The last step was to cover the stars on the stamped bear's costume and the three die cut stars in diamond Stickles. I LOVE the way this turned out. Isn't it so cute?

I hope you all have a fabulous Halloween!! Don't eat too much candy! (I know I will. I made the mistake of buying the kind I like!)
